Vettaikaaran Audio Review

Energy, energy and more energy – That is all the audio of Vettaikaaran is all about. Extremely vibrant, peppy and filled with excitement all over, it is the perfect wake up call for Vijay fans who have been quite dormant for past few months.

Proving his mettle at commercial score yet again, Vijay Antony dishes out “The Fabulous Five” songs for the album, which are sure to climb to top of the music charts soon. Not deviating from his own trademarks and not compromising with the needs of Vijay’s fans, he has done a well balanced work for this album

The album has a good mix of songs though all are generally peppy. A fitting intro, a perfect theme, a melodious folk, a romantic number and a rocking kuthu to end with – what else would one need to rejuvenate with? Yet another reason for the energy is lot of fresh voices all over the album, which gives a totally new experience to the listener.

Now over to the review of songs…..

ALBUM: Vettaikaaran
MUSIC: Vijay Antony

Song: Puli Urumudhu
Singers: Ananthu, Mahesh Vinayakram
Lyrics: Kabilan

The album begins with a big bang in “Puli Urumudhu” where the lead singers sing the praise of Vettaikaaran and his abilities. Lyrics by Kabilan perfectly fit the theme and rhythm and this song could be a visual delight to watch in the movie. The chants in the prelude and the “Asathoma…” verses in the second interlude enhance the feel of the song.

Song: Chinna Thamarai

Singers: Krish, Suchithra, Bone Killer, Dinesh Kanagarathinam, Ramya
Lyrics: Vivega

After that heavy number, this is a pleasant song with a romantic theme. The English and Tamil rap interludes (Dinesh Kanagarathinam yet again after Aathichudi) add a western touch to the song. Suchithra’s husky voice deserves a special mention and she does an excellent job. The lyrics by Viveka are also good. The song is also repeated once again in the album.

Song: Naan Adichaa

Singers: Shankar Mahadevan, Ramya
Lyrics: Kabilan

Next comes Vijay’s intro song, which is as usual a rocking and has a prefect mass feel. The opening of the song is excellent and Shankar Mahadevan’s full throated singing pumps up the adrenaline to your nerves. The song has a lots of western beats thrown in and the lyrics by Kabilan are very powerful with carefully crafted, socially inclined words. The Sanjay’s bit towards the end leaves you longing to watch Vijay along with his junior on screen.

Song: Karikaalan Kaala Pola
Singers: Surchith, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Lyrics: Kabilan

This is a joyful folk song with a neat melodious tune. The song is a great listening pleasure and easily gets into your mind with its simple tune and the simple lyrics beaming with lot of imaginative similes and metaphors. The lead singers do a perfect job, especially Sangeetha who sings with a slight classical touch. The English harmony is also nice. But the hero of the song is definitely Kabilan.

Song: En Uchi Mandaila
Singers: Krishna Iyer, Shoba Sekar, Charulatha Mani, Shakthi Sree
Lyrics: Annamalai

The typical element of every Vijay album, a heavy dance number with fast music. The music and beats play a more important role than lyrics, and this song makes sure that you get up and dance in excitement. Sung by Krishna Iyer(who sounds almost like Vijay Antony) and Vijay’s mom Shoba, this is a fitting finale for the rocking album. Shoba especially gives a new feel to the song with her seductive voice. Like most of Vijay Antony’s kuthu numbers, this is also westernized.

The album is a must grab for everyone who loves heavy beats and is a perfect energizer. For others it is definitely an exciting listen. In all, the prefect lar cracker for this year’s Diwali from Vijay and Vijay Antony. We wish the film also a huge success!
